The best Chrome extensions for listening to music on YouTube in 2026
By Nir Kalfon · · 6 min read
The best Chrome extensions for music on YouTube in 2026 fall into a few jobs: Better Lyrics for synced lyrics on YouTube Music, Volume Master or Ears for volume and EQ, SponsorBlock and YouTube NonStop for fewer interruptions, Enhancer for YouTube for player control, uBlock Origin Lite for ads, and Stationz for an AI radio DJ. Pick by the problem you actually have; you don't need all eight.
We checked every extension below on its Chrome Web Store page in October 2026. User counts and ratings are what those pages showed then, and they change over time. One thing to know up front: some extensions work on youtube.com, some on music.youtube.com (the YouTube Music website), and some on both. We say which.
Quick picks

1. Better Lyrics: synced lyrics on YouTube Music
Better Lyrics adds time-synced lyrics to the YouTube Music website. You open the lyrics tab while a song plays, the lines follow along, and you can click a line to jump to that part of the song. It has a full-screen mode and supports 21 languages.
Its store page listed 100,000 users and a 4.9 rating (722 ratings) as of October 2026, and it was updated in late September 2026.
Good to know: it's built for music.youtube.com, not regular youtube.com.
2. Volume Master: louder, per tab
Volume Master by Peta Sittek is a simple volume booster. You set each tab's volume from 0% to 600%, which helps with quiet uploads and old live recordings. It's free, with no ads.
Its store page listed 7,000,000 users and a 4.8 rating as of October 2026. It was last updated in April 2025, which is fine for a tool this simple.
Good to know: there are several extensions with "Volume Master" in the name from different developers. Check the developer name before installing. The listing also notes that Chrome limits full-screen video while an extension controls a tab's audio; the developer suggests using the keyboard full-screen shortcut instead.
3. Ears: an equalizer for any tab
If you want to shape the sound, not just raise it, Ears: Bass Boost, EQ Any Audio! gives you an 11-band equalizer, volume and preamp control, a live spectrum visualizer, and presets you can save, import and export, including a bass boost preset.
It's smaller than the others here: 10,000 users and a 4.7 rating from 24 ratings on its store page as of October 2026, updated in late September 2026. Fewer ratings means less of a track record, so keep that in mind.
4. SponsorBlock: skip the talking in music videos
SponsorBlock is best known for skipping sponsor reads in videos, but its listing also says it can skip the non-music sections of music videos. That's the long intro skit before the song starts, or the scene after it ends. Segments are submitted by users, and the project is open source with a public database.
Its store page listed 2,000,000 users and a 4.6 rating as of October 2026.
Good to know: music video skipping is one category among several. Check the settings to make sure it's turned on the way you want.
5. YouTube NonStop: no more "Video paused. Continue watching?"
If you've had YouTube stop your playlist to ask whether you're still there, YouTube NonStop clicks that prompt for you so the music keeps going. It works on YouTube and YouTube Music and supports media keys.
To be fair about it: the store page showed 800,000 users but a 3.3 rating, and the last update was October 2023. It may still do the job for you, but it hasn't been updated in years, and the rating suggests mixed results. Read recent reviews before installing.
6. Enhancer for YouTube: control the player
Enhancer for YouTube by MRF Dev is a big toolbox for the YouTube player. For music, the useful parts are the loop mode (repeat a whole video or just a section), a volume booster, mouse-wheel volume control, keyboard shortcuts, controls for autoplay, playlist reversal, and the option to hide comments and recommendations so the page is calmer.
Its store page listed 1,000,000 users and a 4.7 rating as of October 2026, updated July 2026.
Good to know: it's built for youtube.com. If you mostly listen on the YouTube Music website, check whether the features you need apply there.
7. uBlock Origin Lite: fewer ads
uBlock Origin Lite is the Manifest V3 version of uBlock Origin by Raymond Hill, made for Chrome after it dropped support for the older extension format. It blocks ads and trackers right after you install it, using EasyList, EasyPrivacy and uBlock's own filter lists.
Its store page listed 21,000,000 users and a 4.5 rating as of October 2026, updated September 30, 2026.
Good to know: how well any ad blocker works on YouTube can change over time. The only fully supported way to remove YouTube ads is YouTube Premium, which costs $15.99 a month in the US as of October 2026.
8. Stationz: an AI radio DJ for your playlists
Stationz (launching on the Chrome Web Store soon) is the extension we make, so weigh this entry with that in mind. It adds an AI radio DJ to YouTube, in Chrome's side panel. Open any YouTube playlist or mix on youtube.com, switch on Stationz mode, and before each song the DJ gives a short intro: the song, the artist, a story. The music dips while the DJ talks, like real radio.
- Free forever with two DJs, Emma and Leo, using Chrome's built-in voices, unlimited.
- Pro is $4.99 a month for 10 premium AI voices (120 minutes a month). See pricing.
- Talk levels (minimal, balanced, talkative), tones, and narration in English, or 16 languages on Pro.
- Facts come from a library built from Wikipedia and MusicBrainz, and the DJ doesn't repeat what you've already heard.
- On Pro, a built-in ad blocker, on by default, so you may not need a separate one for YouTube.
- 25 ready-made stations if you don't have a playlist to start with.
Good to know: it works on youtube.com in desktop Chrome, not on the YouTube Music website or app. Setup steps are in How to get an AI DJ on YouTube Music.
How to choose
- You sing along: Better Lyrics.
- Some videos are too quiet: Volume Master.

A last tip: every extension you add can read some of what happens on the pages it runs on. Install what you'll use, check the developer name, and remove what you don't.
