1. Overview

Stationz.fm ("we," "our," or "us") makes the Stationz.fm Chrome extension (the "Extension"), an AI radio DJ for the music you play on YouTube, and the stationz.fm website (together, the "Service"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

In short: the Extension works only on youtube.com. It looks at the songs you play there so your DJ can introduce them. We never sell your data, never use it for advertising, and never read any other website you visit.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Your account

  • Sign-in: you sign in on stationz.fm with Google or Apple. We receive your name, email address and an account ID. Apple may give us a private relay email instead. We never see your password.
  • Connecting the Extension: after sign-in, the website hands the Extension a sign-in token so it can use your account.
  • New account notice: when a new account is created, our team receives an email with the new account's name and email, so we can welcome and support new listeners.

2.2 Your settings and stations

  • Your DJ, talk level, tone, language, and switches such as date announcements, weather updates, fact stickers and their style, tooltips, theme, ad blocker and volume booster. These sync to your account so they follow you to another computer.
  • Stations you save or open from a shared link: the YouTube playlist ID, its title and cover, and where you left off (song and position), so you can resume.

2.3 What you listen to

  • With Stationz on: the songs played in that tab: the YouTube video ID, title and channel, the artist and song we work out from them, the station, how long you listened, whether you skipped, and the playback position (to resume a station).
  • With Stationz off ("Learn from my YouTube music"): if this setting is on, we also record the music videos you play on youtube.com, to build better stations for you. We tell music apart using YouTube's own category and channel information. It is on by default, you see it when you connect, and you can turn it off at any time in Account.

2.4 Narration, facts and stickers

  • Writing and voicing the DJ: to create an intro we send our servers the song's video ID, title and channel, your DJ, talk level, tone and language, the station's name, and (only if you turned weather on) a short weather summary such as "18°C, light rain". Our servers use Google's AI to write the script and, on Pro plans, to voice it. Your name and email are not part of these requests.
  • Recordings: intros and fact stories are saved on our servers and may be reused for other listeners of the same song. They contain no personal information. A station's personal welcome is stored only for you.
  • Facts you've heard: which song facts your DJ already told you or you opened on a sticker, so they aren't repeated.
  • Song facts: come from public sources (such as Wikipedia and MusicBrainz). When a song isn't in our library yet, our servers look it up there. We send those sources only the song and artist, never anything about you.
  • Free voices: on the Free plan the DJ speaks with the text-to-speech voices built into Chrome on your computer.

2.5 Usage of AI voices

  • How many minutes of AI voice you use each billing period, to apply your plan's allowance, and the AI resources each narration used, so we can understand our costs.

2.6 How you use the Extension

  • Events such as install, sign-in, turning Stationz on or off, songs starting and ending, intros played or skipped, saving, playing or sharing a station, changing your DJ or settings, opening the side panel, clicking Upgrade or opening checkout, fact stickers shown and stories asked for, flags, and automatic pauses (see 2.9). We use these to run, fix and improve the Service.
  • Ads that get through: the number and length of YouTube ads that still play while Stationz is on, for diagnostics.
  • Environment and health: Extension version, Chrome version, operating system, language and time zone, and technical failures (for example, a part of the YouTube page we rely on wasn't found).

2.7 Feedback and flags you send

  • Feedback: your message, any screenshots you attach, your name and email, and what was playing (station, song, DJ, plan, Extension version). We email you a one-time confirmation from info@stationz.fm.
  • Flagging a narration: the reason you picked, your optional note, and the narration itself (its script and recording, the song, and your DJ and language settings), so we can find and fix mistakes.
  • Only Stationz.fm staff can see feedback and flags.

2.8 Location (weather updates)

  • Weather updates are optional, Pro only, and off by default. Chrome asks for your location only when you turn them on.
  • Your position is rounded to about 10 km inside your browser. That rounded position is sent only to Open-Meteo (for the current weather) and BigDataCloud (to show your city's name in the setting). It is never sent to us.
  • Only the short weather summary reaches our servers, as part of an intro request (see 2.4). Turning weather off clears the stored position.

2.9 Pausing when nobody is listening

  • The Extension uses Chrome's idle signal, which only says whether your computer is in use, idle or locked. If your screen locks, or there has been no keyboard or mouse use for 30 minutes, your station pauses so no intros are made for an empty room.
  • This check happens on your computer. We record only that an automatic pause happened, not what you were doing.

2.10 Payments

  • Pro and Pro Max are sold and billed by Polar (polar.sh), our merchant of record. We receive your subscription status, plan and renewal date. We never receive or store your card details.

2.11 When you uninstall

  • Uninstalling opens an optional feedback page (stationz.fm/bye). If you write something there, we store it along with your account ID if you were signed in.

2.12 Kept only in your browser

  • Some things never leave your computer: the ad blocker's on/off switch (copied into YouTube's page so it can work), tips you dismissed, a cached copy of the DJ list, and a cached weather reading.

3. What We Never Collect

  • Anything from websites other than youtube.com (and your own sign-in on stationz.fm). The Extension asks Chrome for access to youtube.com only.
  • Your other tabs, your browsing history or your keystrokes.
  • The content of non-music YouTube videos you watch.
  • Cookies from any other website.
  • Your Google or Apple password, or your card details.
  • Your microphone or camera.

4. How We Use Information

  • To provide the Service: sign you in, make and play your DJ's intros and fact stories, keep your settings and stations, and apply your plan.
  • To keep it working and improve it: find and fix bugs, check the quality of intros and facts, and decide what to build next.
  • To support you: answer feedback and support requests and send important notices about the Service.
  • Safety and fair use: prevent abuse, fraud and automated use, and enforce our Terms.
  • Legal reasons: meet our legal obligations.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not use it to train AI models.

5. Chrome Web Store User Data Policy

The use of information received through the Extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use this information only to provide and improve the Extension's single purpose, a radio DJ for music played on YouTube. We do not sell it, do not transfer it for advertising, credit or lending purposes, and do not let people read it except with your permission, for security, to comply with the law, or (in aggregated, anonymized form) for operations.

6. Who We Share It With

We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Google Cloud and Firebase: sign-in, database, servers and file storage, and Google's AI models (Gemini and Cloud Text-to-Speech) that write and voice the DJ. They process data for us as service providers.
  • Polar: payments and subscriptions, as merchant of record.
  • Open-Meteo and BigDataCloud: receive your rounded location directly from your browser if you turn on weather updates (see 2.8).
  • Email: confirmation and support emails are sent through our Google Workspace account.
  • Legal requirements: if required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or us.
  • Business transfers: if Stationz.fm is merged, acquired or sells its assets, your information may move with it. We will tell you if that happens.

YouTube pages, Chrome and the optional beta group on Telegram are run by their own companies under their own privacy policies.

7. How Long We Keep It

  • Account, settings and stations: while your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymize your data within 30 days, except what the law requires us to keep.
  • Listening history and usage events: up to 24 months.
  • Feedback, flags and support emails: up to 24 months after they are resolved.
  • Payment records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.
  • Intro recordings and song facts: they are not personal and may be kept to serve other listeners.
  • In your browser: until you uninstall the Extension or clear its data.

8. Your Choices

  • Turn "Learn from my YouTube music", weather updates and fact stickers on or off at any time in the Extension.
  • Turn the Extension off on a tab, or uninstall it, at any time.
  • Cancel a paid plan from Account › Manage subscription.
  • To get a copy of your data, correct it or delete your account, email info@stationz.fm.

9. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and stored on Google Cloud, which encrypts data at rest. Access to personal data is limited to the people who need it to run the Service. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

10. International Transfers

Stationz.fm is based in Israel. Our servers are run by Google Cloud, mainly in the United States, so your information may be processed outside your country, where data protection laws may differ. Where the law requires it (for example, for users in the EEA or UK), we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

11. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact info@stationz.fm and we will delete it. Users aged 13 to 17 need the consent of a parent or guardian.

12. Your Rights in the EEA, UK and Switzerland (GDPR)

We process your data to provide the Service you signed up for (contract), with your consent where we ask for it (for example, location for weather updates, which you can withdraw at any time), and for our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving the Service. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your data, to data portability, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority.

To use these rights, email info@stationz.fm. We reply within 30 days.

13. Your Rights in California (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents may ask to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, to delete it, and to correct it. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.

To make a request, email info@stationz.fm. We verify your identity and reply within 45 days.

14. Your Rights in Israel

Under Israel's Privacy Protection Law, you may ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct or delete it. Email info@stationz.fm.

15. Do Not Track

We don't track you across other websites, so the Service works the same whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the Service changes. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for important changes, let you know in the Extension or by email.
