How it works
Does Apple Music have an AI DJ like Spotify? (And Amazon Music, Tidal, YouTube Music?)
By Stationz.fm · · 6 min read

No. As of October 2026, Apple Music has no AI DJ that talks between songs the way Spotify DJ does. What it has is AutoMix, which blends one song into the next like a DJ would, but without a voice. Amazon Music has Alexa+, a chat assistant you can ask about music, not a host that speaks between tracks. YouTube Music is testing AI hosts, but only for a small group in the US. Tidal and Deezer have nothing like it that we could find.
Here's what each service actually offers, and what to use if you want a talking DJ right now.
Apple Music: AutoMix, not a DJ voice
Apple launched AutoMix with iOS 26 in 2025. It uses AI to create transitions between songs, with time stretching and beat matching, so a playlist flows like a mix. It's a nice feature. It just doesn't talk.
iOS 27, previewed in June 2026, improves AutoMix with smoother, more varied transitions and brings it to Apple TV and HomePod for the first time, according to 9to5Mac and RouteNote. The other big change is Siri: with the new AI Siri, you can ask about an artist and then say something like "play one of her new singles" mid-conversation. That's useful, but it's a conversation you start, not a host who chimes in between songs.
What about rumors? Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has reported that Apple is working on an AI-focused Apple Music reboot. But as MacRumors noted, the last round of that rumor turned into AutoMix and lyrics translation. We found no Apple announcement of an AI DJ or voice host as of October 2026.
Worth knowing: Apple Music does have real people talking. Apple Music Radio runs live shows with hosts like Zane Lowe. They're great, but they're broadcast shows, not a voice over your own playlists.
Amazon Music: Alexa+ is a chat assistant
Amazon brought Alexa+ to the Amazon Music app as a beta in November 2025. Today, per Amazon, it's available to all US Amazon Music customers at no extra cost across every subscription tier, in the iOS and Android apps.
What it does: you tap the Alexa button and ask. It can find a song from vague clues, answer questions about artists and music history, and build playlists from a mood or activity. Some coverage calls it an "AI DJ", like TechRadar's headline.
What it doesn't do, as far as anything we found documents: talk on its own between songs. It answers when you ask. It's also US only, with no date for other countries or for desktop and web, according to eCoustics (updated July 2026).
So if you searched "alexa dj" hoping for a radio-style host, Alexa+ isn't quite that. It's closer to a very knowledgeable friend you can text.
YouTube Music: Beyond the Beat, a limited test
YouTube Music is the only one of these with something close to Spotify DJ. Beyond the Beat is a YouTube Labs experiment where two AI hosts, Mo and Flow, talk between songs with stories and trivia while you play mixes or radio.
The catch: it's a limited US test, mainly for YouTube Premium subscribers, in the YouTube Music app. There's no permanent off switch inside it, only a snooze. We covered it in detail in YouTube Music's AI hosts explained.
At Made on YouTube in September 2026, YouTube announced Ask Music, a conversational way to search and build a queue. That's a chat feature too, not a host.
Tidal and Deezer: nothing that talks
Tidal. We found no native AI DJ or AI host in Tidal as of October 2026. The closest thing is its partnership with djay Pro, a third-party DJ app whose Automix can mix your Tidal playlists. That's mixing, not talking.
Deezer. Deezer's main AI music feature is Playlist with AI, which builds a playlist from a text prompt. It launched as a beta in July 2024. We found no Deezer feature with a voice that talks between songs.

If you want a talking DJ today
Here are the realistic options, depending on where your music lives.
- Spotify DJ. The most mature option. It needs Spotify Premium and picks its own lineup rather than narrating a playlist you choose. If you're weighing it up, see our Spotify DJ alternatives.
- Radiant (if you're on Apple Music). An app reported to add an AI DJ on top of your Apple Music library, according to a 2026 roundup (written by another AI radio company, so treat it as a pointer). You still need your Apple Music subscription.
- AI-run stations. AIRadio runs free 24/7 themed stations with an AI host in your browser or on iPhone. You don't pick the songs, but there's nothing to set up.
- Stationz (our product). A Chrome extension that adds an AI radio DJ to any YouTube playlist on youtube.com in desktop Chrome. To be clear about the limits: it doesn't work with Apple Music or Amazon Music, it isn't a phone app, and it's not for the YouTube Music phone app. If you're happy listening on YouTube at your computer, the free plan gives you two English DJs, Emma and Leo, with a calm tone and minimal or balanced talk. Between songs the DJ shares checked facts about the song and artist when available, and the music dips while it talks. Pro is $4.99 a month and adds 10 premium voices, 16 languages and an ad blocker. You can start with one of 37 ready-made stations or your own playlist. Get it on the Chrome Web Store, or read how to set it up.

FAQ
Does Apple Music have an AI DJ?
No. As of October 2026, Apple Music has no AI voice that talks between songs. It has AutoMix, which uses AI to blend songs together, and in iOS 27 you can ask the new Siri about an artist and then play their music.
What is the Apple Music DJ feature?
People usually mean AutoMix. It creates smooth, DJ-style transitions between songs using time stretching and beat matching. It doesn't speak. iOS 27 improves it and brings it to Apple TV and HomePod.
Does Amazon Music have an AI DJ like Spotify?
Not in the same way. Alexa+ in the Amazon Music app answers questions, finds songs and builds playlists when you ask, at no extra cost for US customers. We found no sign that it talks between songs on its own.
Is there an Alexa DJ mode?
Alexa+ is the current AI feature in Amazon Music, and it works as a chat assistant in the iOS and Android apps in the US. It isn't a radio-style host that introduces each song.
Does Tidal or Deezer have an AI DJ?
Not as of October 2026, based on what we checked. Tidal works with the djay Pro app for automatic mixing, and Deezer has a prompt-based AI playlist feature. Neither has a voice host between songs.
Can I use an AI DJ with Apple Music?
Not from Apple itself. Third-party apps like Radiant are reported to add one on top of your Apple Music library. Stationz does not work with Apple Music; it works with YouTube playlists in desktop Chrome.
Hear it on your own playlists
Stationz adds an AI radio DJ to YouTube in desktop Chrome. Free to start, 16 languages with Pro.
